Whether you have decided to be partial or a full vegetarian, you need to give your body the full balanced diet required. Giving up meat will mean using other protein sources in the meals. Protein is a major constituent of the main diet that serves to fight diseases as well as build and maintain the body’s high energy levels. To get the recommended protein levels in a day means including any of the following high protein foods into your daily diet:

Eggs

Starting your day with egg protein-packed meal will give your an energy boost throughout the day. You can choose any of the following choices to make eggs tastier and flavored:

  • Mixing eggs with omelet
  • Mix with quiche
  • Cook poached eggs
  • Hard boil them
  • Scrambled or
  • Sunny side-up

All the above methods will ensure that you don’t get bored easily with similar cooked eggs.

Cottage cheese

This is eaten as a snack. The best version of cottage cheese is low-fat. It serves as a rich source of protein and adds to your calcium level to keep bones strong. It can be mixed with fresh vegetables for a sweet treat. Adding cinnamon and fruit to cheese makes a sweet dish or snack before or after meals.

Quinoa

“Keen-Wah” is a high protein grain. It is low in cholesterol and rich in both fiber and iron. It is a good choice of protein for anyone looking to eat healthy. But go easy on this grain since it is not a traditional Paleo food. It is easy to prepare and takes little time to cook. This grain can be added to salad or used as alternative to rice as it is a high protein whole grain.

Pumpkin seeds

These are also known as pepitas. They can be added as a topping in salads, and are also good as an ingredient for a healthy soup. They have an advantage in that they are available in most stores, in all seasons. They are packed while roasted or fresh.

Dried beans

Here is a good list of low fat and fiber filled beans:

  • Pinto beans
  • Kidney beans
  • Lentils
  • Chickpeas

The purpose of using dried beans as a source of protein is to control the intake amount of additives like salt. This is how to prepare them: Soak the dried beans in water over night, rinse them until clean, simmer for two hours on a moderate heat. You can choose to serve them alongside other spices to make them tastier.

Seitan

This is a fine texture wheat-type product that contains high proteins. It resembles meat and is ideal for soup, sandwich or generally a good replacement of meat. It is made from wheat gluten and can be found in most store or groceries.

Almonds

They contain monosaturated fats that have been proven to reduce heart disease. Serve about 2 table spoons of almonds butter on apples or use in any recipe you like. There are many foods that can be used as source of proteins and doing away with meat should not be a hindrance to a healthy diet!
