Many people who have problems sleeping resort to using prescription sleeping pills. However, experts caution that sleeping pills do not always work and are not always safe. For this reason, many experts are of the opinion that use of sleeping pills should be limited. The most unfortunate thing is that many people are not aware about the existence of natural sleeping aids. Therefore, they keep on using prescription pills in order to enjoy a good night’s rest each night.

The good news is that there are natural sleep aids to help you enjoy your sleep in no time. They include the following:

Take a warm bath

Taking a warm bath immediately before going to sleep can help you sleep better. This is because relaxing in the tab causes your body temperature to rise slightly and after you come out of the tab, the rapid drop in temperature mimics the natural drop in temperature, thus triggering the brain to prepare for sleep. You will fall asleep more quickly and enjoy better quality as well.

Meditation has been proven to fight insomnia. People who meditate are known to experience longer and better sleep because of the deep relaxation powers associated with meditation. Even simple meditation style such as deep breathing can help you enjoy good sleep.

Exercise helps you sleep better. Even mild exercise can work for you. Just make sure you engage yourself in any form of exercise every day and you will start enjoying better sleep every night.

Reduce caffeine intake

Caffeine takes a number of hours to get out of your system. Depending on the quantity of caffeine and its strength, you may find yourself having problems with sleep. To avoid this possibility, avoid taking any caffeine after lunch.

Drink herbal tea

Caffeine- free herbal teas are known to help people sleep better. As a matter of fact, many ‘sleepy times’ teas are made using the same compounds found in supplements that promote sleep, including chamomile and Valerian.

Do yoga

Yoga is a form of mind relaxing physical activity. Yoga can be very effective as a way of helping you sleep better, especially if your lack of sleep is a result of lack of relaxation.

Let your bedroom be your bedroom

The bedroom is meant to be a place of rest. It is indeed a retreat to restore your mind and body by sleeping. It is not an extension of your office or a place to watch TV. If you have them, ensure you remove from your bedroom. They keep you awake and they don’t allow you to have a sense of relation. They only help carry stress into your bedroom, which prevents you from sleeping soundly.

Drink tart cherry juice

A half cup of cherry juice is a nice way to sleep better. It is a natural sleep aid because it is rich in tryptophan. This is an essential amino acid that converts to serotonin, which in return converts to melatonin. Melatonin is essential in helping maintain our sleep and wake cycle by promoting drowsiness and lowering body temperature. It works with the central nervous system to sync our biological clock.

These are some of the natural sleep aids that are available. You can try some of them and see which works for you!
