If you have begun living a Paleo lifestyle, one thing you may be wondering is: How long can you stay on the Paleo diet?
There are so many diets out there that might be good to short term weight loss in a fast amount of time. You’ve probably heard of the cabbage soup diet, the juiced veggies diet, or Slim Fast diet. While all of these diets may result in quick weight loss of a few pounds, they are pretty much only good for short term goals. If you have a wedding dress to fit into, then a quick diet may do the trick. But what if you’re looking for something more?
Let’s face it: Anything in excess is usually not a good idea. But when it comes to your health and well-being, you have to think in the long-term. This is where the Paleo diet really shines. The answer to the question “How long can you stay on the Paleo diet?” can be best summed up to an answer of “As long you want!”
The Benefits of the Paleo Diet
So why is it that you can stay on the Paleo diet as long as you want but other diets you need a break from? Well, the answer is pretty simple. With other diets– particularly fad diets– you usually fail to get the proper nutrients and protein that you need. Take the cabbage soup diet for example. This diet has pretty much no fat because you are only allowed to eat the non-fat cabbage soup. Sure, you are getting your veggies, but where’s the protein? There is not enough to keep you full and satiated. This will result in snacking and subsequent overeating.
On the other hand, the Paleo diet offers plenty of protein to keep you hunger-free and full of clean energy. It also involves fruits, veggies, and some carbs if you wish. The Paleo diet is incredibly balanced and offers all of the nutrients that you need. You will also be drinking a lot of water to flush out your system of toxins and impurities.
The Paleo diet offers so many benefits that it is safe to say that you can stay on this diet for a long time. It’s such a healthy way of eating that you more than likely will not want to stray from the diet. You’ll be satisfied, feel great, and lose weight. In the case of the Paleo diet, there isn’t too much of a good thing!
